Top European Sinologist Prof. Wolfgang Kubin, former director of the Sinology Faculty, University of Bonn, Germany, was invited to Hubei University of Technology (HBUT), November 17, 2011. HBUT International Office Director Terry Ye and Foreign Languages School Dean Jia Qin had an in-depth discussion with Prof. Kubin on the study of Sinology and Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. They exchanged the conception of establishing a Confucius Institute through the joint efforts of HBUT and University of Bonn. Afterwards, Prof. Kubin delivered three speeches respectively on the topics of the European Perspective of Chinese Culture, the Awe for Confucius and the Charm and International Popularity of Chinese Culture, feasting the audience with the essence of European Sinology as well as a novel insight into the traditional Chinese literature and culture.
