Dr. Martin Sharp, principal lecturer and leader of the Photonics in Engineering Research Group, General Engineering Research Institute, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), visited HBUT. Amy Long, deputy director of the International Office presided over the reception meeting, on which, Terry Ye, director of the International Office, first extended a warm welcome to Dr. Martin Sharp, followed by a brief introduction to the HBUT history, facts and figures, program development and international collaborations. Subsequently, Dr. Martin Sharp introduced the LJMU history, advantaged programs, scientific research and school-enterprise collaborations. The two parties expressed their intention to establish joint education programs, putting forward possible collaborative models, particularly the joint PhD education program. Hopefully, Dr. Martin Sharp’s visit will introduce a new British partner to HBUT and initiate the first Sino-foreign PhD education program at HBUT.
