Deputy Mayor Rodney May of Hepburn City, Australia, accompanied by Mr. Micheal Guo, CEO of the Australia International Trade Associations(AITA), visited Hubei University of Technology (HBUT), May 22, 2012. Leaders from some colleges in Wuhan were invited to attend the conference. HBUT Vice-president Dong Shijie and International Office Director Terry Ye received the distinguished guests.
Dong gave a brief introduction to the HBUT facts and figures, particularly the international collaborative programs, faculty member and student exchange programs, hoping that HBUT could strengthen and promote its collaborations with Australian higher education institutions with the assistance of AITA. Deputy Mayor Rodney May introduced the natural and economic environment as well as the development of international affairs in Hepburn City. AITA CEO Micheal Guo presented the background information, services and objectives of AITA, expressing the intention of seeking Hubei higher education partners. Afterwards, HBUT and AITA had a discussion on short-term student exchange programs and joint education programs concerning the introduction of advanced Australian education and management resources.
HBUT has close contact and good relationship with Australian higher education institutions, offering a platform for students who expect to complete further study in Australia. The University of Tasmania, for instance, has established a joint undergraduate education program with HBUT.
